Re: Stopping the Plague
Seros had become fully enraged - not at the ungor in particular, or even at the wounds he had sustained, but at his repeated failure to harness the winds of magic. With a snarl, he raised his hands to the heavens. "By the Father of Lies, I command you! Bend... to... my... will."

Grabbing a rock from the ground the prophet hurled it at the spearmen engaging Seros.

Re: Stopping the Plague
Teheboq ground his teeth in frustration. He had expected to have a harder time hitting his enemies without his brothers at his side, but this, this was something else entirely. Not one of them had harmed their opponents. Teheboq was only relieved that their mission for the moment was to protect the prophet. If their mission had been a sneak attack or something else that required precision timing... Shaking himself from the cobwebs of depression, Teheboq readied his sword for another slash at his enemy's body.

With the scent of the ungor's blood on the air, Valmir's eyes hardened fully as he grinned a fang-filled smirk underneath the hood of his cloak. Following in behind Teheboq's attack, the Vampire lashed out again with his claws with the intent of tearing whatever flesh from the ungor's body that he could get his claws around.

Re: Stopping the Plague
Teheboq sighed as he bent over to retrieve the prophet's cane. Somehow he had the feeling that something was waiting for them to attack the stone, and that the man-beast who had escaped would be warning them about their attack. Not wanting to reveal how limited his knowledge of human tongues was Teheboq stared quietly at the old man as he handed him his cane. The aged human had shown courage and even strength in the fight against the man-beasts, perhaps there was more to the prophet than his rantings would lead others to believe. Of course, Teheboq doubted that any of his allies were quite what they appeared to be. Teheboq took a moment to take stock of each of them.
A warrior-mage of the changing winds. He had powerful magic, and strong armor, but he lacked the fortitude shrug off blows like Teheboq. A polite, even cordial being, Teheboq wondered how much was the humans personality and how much was a lie toacquire whatever he came to the island for.
A dwarf, stout and aggressive. Teheboq had never seen a creature take such joy in battle, or drink during one for that matter. He knew very little of the being, but from the texts he read at his home temple, Teheboq had never heard of dwarves betraying their allies, but he knew little of the so-called chaos dwarves of the far-east.
His last ally was the most mysterious, but not as to what he was. Teheboq's people have had much contact with the "vampires" as they were known. Even for one as young and untraveled as Teheboq the smell of death and the dark wind was unmistakable. What confused Teheboq was why one such as he would be interested in stopping a plague. It was well known that death was an ally to the vampires, being natural necromancers. The plague would provide this vampire with an army if left unchecked, so why did he want to stop it?
Teheboq prayed to the Old Ones. His quest was not going to be easy.

Re: Stopping the Plague
The old man dusted himself off and wordless took the cane from the Teheboq giving a nod of thanks.
"Not going to lie there fellas. Really thought that was the end for me. But thanks to the old throwing arm though we made it" He said smiling as he flexed his right arm. "Well lads shall we continue?"
The trip continued smoothly and just as the sky was turning dark the old man led the group to a small clearing. Stopping suddenly he held his hand up for the group to stop. In the center of the clearing was a small pillar about three feet tall with a small bowl on top. A small circle of evenly spaced rocks surrounded the pillar separating the clearing from the thick jungle.
"This is it! I saw this very spot in my vision. We are almost at the obelisk! From here we must..." The old man held his hands to head concentrating deeply. "Odd... I cannot tell, my powers are weakened for some reason. Something is blocking my vision."

Re: Stopping the Plague
Teheboq felt his heart sink with the prophet's words. While he knew little of magic, he understood surprise attacks very well. If he were the one laying the trap, Teheboq would have waited for a moment like this, when the enemies' magical powers were at their weakest. Leaving the identification of whatever wassuppressing the prophet's powers to the other members of his group, Teheboq moved closer to the prophet, ready to defend him from whatever may appear.
Re: Stopping the Plague
As the group stood in the front of the clearing the ground began to shake and the bowl fell from the pillar falling with a loud crash as an unknown liquid poured into the soil. The liquid began to burn and smoke creating a giant smoke cloud in the air. The ground stopped shaking as suddenly as it started.
"Phew... that was weird" The old man wiped sweat from his brow. "Oh excellent my vision is back. Now let us see..." His eyes closed as he muttered an incantation. "His eyes snapped open. "Blessings of the true gods protect us..." The group looked at him in curiously. The prophet's hand snapped up pointing into the jungle ahead. "It's here!"
Seconds later a rumbling could be heard. Tree branches snapped and with a roar a figure burst through the trees. The creature stood twelve feet tall with a humanoid torso and legs of a giant lizard. Muscles bulged and pieces of makeshift metal covered its body. In its left hand was a massive mace and in its right it held the ungor skirmisher from before by the neck. With a snap it broke the ungors neck and tossed the limp body into the center of clearing. As it approached the group the true horror of the creature could be seen. One of its eyes was falling out of its socket and patches of its skin were dripping its flesh. Sores and boils appeared in patches on its hide. With a deafening roar it attacked.

Re: Stopping the Plague
Seros raised an eyebrow, perhaps the closest to an expression of surprise he was capable of. This creature too he had encountered only in his readings - and unlike the disappointment of the ungors, this one was much more impressive in person. The plague had cleared ravaged the monster, although it was hard to say if it was an innocent victim of the plague or one of its perpetrators.
Not that it made a great deal of difference, at this point. Although Seros might prefer to ally himself with this creature, it was clearly hostile and not likely to be responsive to diplomacy. Making an effort to calm himself and restrain the rage he felt after the debacle of the previous encounter, Seros casually pointed at the creature, gently willing forth the flames of change.

Re: Stopping the Plague
Flicking his eyes to the broken body of the ungor that the massive Dragon Ogre had tossed to the side, Valmir began to whisper the spidery words of Necromancy that he could remember. He could only remember a scant few from the tomes that he once knew and could only grasp at the straws of his former power. There was once a time that Valmir would simply have summoned a battalion of undead soldiers to destroy the Dragon Ogre but for the time being this would have to suffice. Doing his best to remember the syllables and summoning what little remained of his necromantic power, the vampire attempted to repair and animate the skeleton of the ungor to join battle against the Dragon Ogre...

Re: Stopping the Plague
Teheboq stood, still as a statue, as he watched the warrior-mage get thrown back by the sudden explosion that saved him from the Dragon Ogre's mace strike. This was a creature whose strength would test Teheboq's defenses to their limit. No. That was incorrect. This was a creature that Teheboq could not stand against alone. But Teheboq wasn't alone, and as his gaze shifted from ally to ally, Teheboq regained the ability to control his body. Trying to keep his doubts from voicing themselves, Teheboq growled at the prophet beside him, "Stay back aged one. It is my test." Releasing his doubts with a roar Teheboq ran forward readying his blade to strike the giants vulnerable lower body.

Nodding lightly as his attempt to raise the skeleton failed, Valmir's eyes snapped back to the Dragon Ogre as it smashed into Seros, though the Chaos Mage was protected by the power of his gods. Seeing his opportunity, Valmir stretched his right hand as it transformed into a set of vicious claws and dived into slash at the Dragon Ogre's flank.

Re: Stopping the Plague
Seros was mildly disturbed by the creature's obvious strength, as his impotent companions failed to cause it any damage. The beast had chosen its target wisely, he could hardly begrudge it that. Fortunately, the winds of change seemed to be favoring him, protecting him from what could have been a painful blow. Best to exploit his luck while it lasted, Seros thought, waving his sword through the flames from the ground, channeling them into his blade, and lunging for the monster.
