Seros was also inconvenienced by his annoying attitude that made him no longer capable of gaining respect from the god that seemed to be governing this battle. He swung barely catching the marauder with the tip of his blade leaving but a scratch on the man's tough hide.

The tomb king tried to summon the whispers of his ancient people but his head was knocked from his shoulders by the marauder as he spoke. Picking up his skull he placed it back onto his neck trying to regain his train of thought.

Maelkur opened the marauder's guard perfectly. His time was short as the blade slid into the man's flank for but a second as he withdrew before the man could retaliate. The damage was minimal but the series of blows was beginning to take its toll on the man.

Lunging forward the marauder struck towards the vampire. Leaping backwards Maelkur easily avoided the blow that struck only air.

The marauder raised the blade high above his head as he brought the blade down onto Zaket's head. Zaket slowly stepped backwards as the massive cleaver smashed into the floor as more and more water began to cover the raft. The group was ankle deep in water and rising.

[Next up. Everyone again. I have faith in you guys... kill them.]

The winds of magic were now at their weakest point, the Tomb King Zaket VII could feel his power already dampening with each cast. Regardless, he saw an opportunity to display the power of his arcane symbols more than ever at this moment where the magic of his allies were put into question.

<Incantation of Renewal II on Seros>

"Ever do you humans chase the impossible." Replied Maelkur off-handedly in repsonse to the marauder's howl for his blood as he casually knocked away another of the marauder's attacks. Even he had to admit that the marauders had skill at arms, they stood against him well enough where-as few others in the region had managed to do so thus far. However, they were only humans. With that thought and a wry grin, the vampire launched another precise attack with his large kopesh blade.

Attack M1 once more.

Zaket tried to summon the arcane symbols but they faded as quickly as they glowed. The wind's were impossible to find in this dark place. Zaket could only watch as his magic left his fingers only to scatter into the dank air of the cavern.

They were only humans, but they were skilled in the art of war. As typical of their kind desperation is the peak of human strength. The vampire brought his blade down onto the neck of the marauder with all his unnatural strength. Despite being outmatched the marauder launched a desperate parry blocking first with his blade slowing down the strike, following it by a smash of his shield deflecting the blow. Lashing out with his foot the marauder kicked Maelkur square in the chest knocking the vampire back.

Struck by the insufficient lethality of all involved parties (but by little else), Seros decided a different approach was required, to better protect him during the many long hours of battle that they no doubt still had in store before a conclusion was reached.

Seros raised both his arms in front of his body in a shielding position. Grinning as the marauder lunged for him a wave of orange flame swept over his body. The sword bounced off the flame as though it had hit a stone wall.

The marauder followed up his sudden kick with a shield smash across the Maelkur's face. Realizing his strikes no longer had an effect of the chaos warrior he turned his shield to the Tzeetch worshiper and his sword to the vampire.

The marauder lunged forward once again towards Zaket his boots splashing through the water everyone was now wading through. As he swung his blade forward his foot hit the hole in the raft causing him to fall forward suddenly, the blade swinging wide.

Everyone is up again.

"You certainly possess conviction, little monkey." Maelkur hissed, finally becoming agitated with his battle against the marauders. He disliked everything about this cave and his attackers. Magically resistant foes were always trouble in spades for those who heeded the calls of the winds of magic, even for ones whom were skilled in other ways. "I will give you that much. But I wonder just how long it will last against me! Show me human, show me just how determined you are to end me."

Attack M1... again.

The Old King had no new thoughts, he continued in his casting, the battle now taking little actual meaning. The battle he was waging now was with the very winds of magic.

Seros continued attacking the marauder, yawning lazily. This battle bored him.

Seros did not yawn as he was still very engaged in the battle before him. Diving forward the marauder brought his shield up to block the charge. Bringing his rapier down Seros swung it around underneath the man's shield. Reacting to the strike the marauder moved his shield down to block but found it held firmly in Seros's other hand. Seros smiled as he felt the tip of his rapier slide through the bottom of the man's jaw popping as it emerged out the top of his skull.

Zaket was fighting a losing battle with the winds of magic. He cursed, he was the great king of men not some fledgling apprentice wizard. Yet he could not muster the basic forces of magic.

As Maelkur spoke those words the tip of Seros's rapier plunged up through the man's skull. Maelkur spun around moving to engage the foe attacking the Tomb King.

The marauder responded quickly to his new attacker. But as quickly as he responded his opponent was quicker. Maelkur dodged the sweeping blow with ease. Large weapons had power but they were so easy to dodge.

[Everyone go!]

Ducking underneath the massive weapon and moving around to dodge a second deadly swipe from it, Maelkur leaped backwards behind his two allies and summoned to him some bit of his magic to be ready for his next move. As much as he wanted to charge in and destroy the insolent human for attacking him, his current condition required a more tact then blind fury.

Move one range back.

(Psst you don't appear to have checked for IF on that Orange Fire. Also I have rank 1 not rank 2 so it should be (18)13 rather than (21)13)

Possibly yawning (historical records of this era show conflicting reports), Seros moved on to his next target, still saddened to have to kill fellow servants of the Great Powers. Servants of the filthy corpse god Nurgle, of course, did not count.

As Seros pondered his dilema he realized that in fact he was once again horribly wrong. There was without a shadow of doubt no yawning present on this battlefield. Several first hand reports, as well as video, audo, and forensic evidence showed no signs of yawnage. Seros stabbed forward but his mind was distracted and the marauder blocked the blow easily.

The Old King did not pause.

Zakets persistence paid off as he grasped at a thin strand of magic before it left his grasp. Pushing this small surge of power for all it was worth he twisted and warped the magic before him. Several of Maelkur's larger wounds begain to close.

Seeing the vampire escape his grasp the marauder watched as the Tomb King cast foul magics before his eyes causing the wounds on the vampires body to begin to vanish and fade. Leaping into the air with his cleaver he slammed the mighty weapon down onto Zaket's shoulder. The bones and armor caved and gave way as large pieces of Zaket's arm and side lay in fragments on the ground. The old king was having trouble mustering enough strength to keep his body together.

Bringing his hands close together before him and whispering the spidery words of ancient dark arts combined with the song-like syllables of the High Lore, Maelkur fixed his gaze on the remaining marauder as a few bolts of golden lightning arched down his arms and into his palms. The groundwork was set for the spell, but it was unstable and unlikely to hold together. Still, it was worth a try.

Cast Khaine's Fury on M3.

The Tomb King Zaket VII could feel it now, the very drain of death pulling him closer. It had been so long now, he had walked this plane beyond what any man could understand. In seeing his magic complete, he had lost his focus on the battle. In this regard, the Great King saw an opportunity to retreat if not momentarily.
