Participants- Seros, Teheboq, Valmir, Turin
Timeline- Week 1

As the prophet spoke of the source of the plague dozens of people circled him to listen. But the moment the prophet suggested an expedition into the jungle the people immediately lost interest. Most shook their head and walked off. "Lunatic" and "Suicide Mission" were phrases uttered by the majority of the departing crowd. The prophet began to get desperate as the people dispersed around him.

"No you fools! You know not what you do! If you leave now, we are all doomed. The crowd ignored him as they left. Soon the prophet was alone with four individuals. A fully armored chaos knight, a mysterious dark haired man in a cloak, a saurus warrior covered in bones, and a short dwarf with a brace of pistols and the steering wheel of a ship. The prophet slowly turned in a circle looking over the four remaining settlers and began to mumble to himself.

"mmm... interesting... this won't do at all. We need more, we need so many more." His eyes locked on the chaos warrior. "The taint of dark gods, yes he'll do nicely." Sticking an wrinkled bony finger at the dwarf and then the saurus. "MMmmmm yes more meat is good. Lots of fortitude is required." He lastly turned to the dark haired man, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. "No... you will not do. But... you may be able to assist the others." He stepped off his pedastal and hobbled over to the side of the street motioning for them to follow. "Anyone interested in saving us all please follow me." The four individuals followed him as he led the group off into an alleyway.

"I can offer you no reward. And many of you do not appear to be the type to do deeds for the greater good." He said nodding to the chaos warrior and dark haired man. "So what is your purpose here? Why do you wish to help stop the plague?"

Now outside of earshot of any townsfolk who might... get the wrong impression of him, so to speak, Seros leaned in towards the prophet. "My reasons are my own, old man. And I especially decline to be questioned by one such as you. Do not think I have failed to sense the weight upon your soul... Simple insanity? I think not. I will be watching you closely."

Fiddling with his pistol brace and looking at who will be his travel companions Turin states at no one in particular, "Tis true, that I do not do this out of the goodness of m' heart, but that I would like to get something out of this. I'm pretty sure whatever is causing this plague, will have plenty of booty nearby." With an impatient look, "So, where is the plague stone you crazy bugger."

"Clearly, if anything unfortunate were to happen to our precious hovels the community would decay beyond repair," replied Valmir, his tone even but for a hint of sarcastic mirth just below the surface of his words. He spoke without looking to the old man, keeping his eye on Seros. While he'd battled Chaos in the past that had strayed too far into his land, Shadowfang had always made a point to avoid making an enemy of the Dark Gods. He was proud, but pragmatic in the same breath and knew that the armies of the north were vast, vast enough that he did not wish to deal with them at the same time as the Sigmarites. "Someone has to think of the children."

Seros smiled slightly beneath his helmet. "Of course. Every soul that perishes before being... enlightened is a terrible tragedy. We all act out of the purest altruism, no doubt..." Seros glanced warily at the saurus and the dwarf. "...No doubt."

"We all act out of the purest altruism, no doubt..."

The prophet noticeably cringed at those words. "Yes... yes... I'm sure all your motives are most pure. Especially the silent one." He said with a nod towards the Saurus. "Well now that we know that we are doing it for the children shall we be off. I may be a seer but I am not much of a fighter. You will need to guard me until we reach the stone. " With that he pulled a cane out from under his robe and hobbled off down the road humming a tune to himself.

After following the path for a short while the prophet took a sudden turn straight into the jungle. Only about ten minutes into walking there was a distinct howl. Looking up suddenly the prophet turned to the group in horror. "Beastmen, everyone to arms! It's an ambush!"

Beastmen. Seros had never seen one in person before, but he was well versed from his extensive reading on the subject. They were somewhat distasteful, he had to say. Barbaric. Unfitting of the glory and majesty of Chaos. Snapping his fingers, he returned the javelin with a javelin of fire, while studying the Ungor's markings for any sign of their affiliation. He expected the work of Grandfather Nurgle, but evidence to confirm his suspicions would be ideal.

Watching the javelin fly into the air with no particular interest in the attack, Valmir's eyes followed the missile to it's resting place at his feet. With a raised eyebrow, he turned his attentions to his would-be attacker that had failed to even strike him. Not that he would have been by such a common weapon, but it was the principle of the offense. Reaching to his belt, Valmir wrapped his fingers around the elegant Nippon longblade that he carried. He had once favored the cutlass until he'd found himself at the end of a Skaven Assassin's blades. The Assassin was no warrior, he had died easily. But his weapons, inspired by the time that Clan Eshin had spent in the far away nation of Nippon, had possessed a certain finesse them that appealed to the Strigoi vampire's sense of nobility. Of course, rather then claim the rat's weapons for his own (they were dirty and caked with unwashed blood)-- Valmir had sought out a swordmaker from that land and had one made for himself. With a flourish, he drew his weapon and raised his foot forward as if he were taking a step only to have his body's image waver and disappear as he charged at the Skirmisher that had thrown a javelin at him.

The man beasts were one of the few "intelligent" races that Teheboq had fought before with his brothers. They were unorganized, but the winds of chaos gave them great strength. In those days Teheboq had learned that the beastmen thrive in chaos, and when they are unable to cause it in the enemy lines they will break themselves. As much as Teheboq would have loved to have turned to face the spearman attacking him, defending the prophet was his first priority. Running forward Teheboq brought his blade up, hoping to hamstring the spearman attacking the warrior-mage as he made his way towards the prophet.

Seros took a single step backwards, surprised by the spearman's success. "A well placed blow, beast." The ungor grinned evilly as the sorcerer continued. "My turn now." In a flash, his blade was out and streaking toward the beastman's throat, brilliant fire running down the edge.

Sidestepping the blow from the ungor skirmisher, Valmir held his longblade at his side for a moment as he observed the beast. Anyone sparing the vampire a spare look would see that he clearly did not consider the beastman a threat due to his entirely unguarded stance... it was almost as if he hardly used a sword. Raising his blade to the air, Valmir fixed a hard glare on the ungor before smirking a bit in Seros' direction.

"Perish in the name of Sigmar!" He declared as he brought the Nippon longblade down at the uingor.
